Producing an EP for one of the most successful singers of the 80s, Belinda Carlisle, was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up. The EP, called “Kismet,” features six tracks, all of which were written by the legendary songwriter Diane Warren. The first single from the EP, “Big Big Love,” was an instant hit and garnered rave reviews from critics and fans alike.
The journey to producing “Kismet” was an incredible experience that I’ll never forget. It all started when Diane Warren sent me a demo for one of the songs on the EP, “If U Go.” At the time, I was feeling inspired after living in Italy, and I immediately got to work on producing a version of the song. When Diane heard my version, she was thrilled, and we knew that we had something special on our hands.
Shortly after that, Belinda Carlisle heard the new demo, and we all met up in Diane’s studio in Hollywood to start recording. From the moment we started working together, everything just clicked. Of course, Diane had more songs, and we went ahead and recorded those as well.
One of the most memorable moments during the production process was when I flew to Mexico City to record the vocals for the rest of the songs on the EP. It was a fantastic experience to be in such a vibrant city and to work with some incredibly talented musicians.
The response to the EP has been overwhelmingly positive, with “Big Big Love” becoming the most-played song on BBC 2 Radio. It’s been an incredible journey, and I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together.
In conclusion, producing the EP “Kismet” for Belinda Carlisle was a dream collaboration that I’ll always cherish. Working with Diane Warren and Belinda was an incredible experience that taught me so much about the music industry and what it takes to create a hit record.
